Halloween Outings Guide
Haunted houses, haunted trails and ghost tours—with the right level of fright.

Choose your fright level first
A haunted house, an outdoor haunted trail and a ghost tour offer different experiences. Decide whether your group wants theatrical scares, an outdoor route or local ghost stories. Use each operator’s age and content guidance rather than assuming an attraction is family-friendly.
Treat daytime and nighttime as different visits
A venue may offer gentle daytime activities and a separate intense evening attraction. Check the exact session you are booking. If children are coming, confirm age restrictions, whether an adult must accompany them and whether anyone can leave the route early.
Build around one booked experience
Allow time for check-in, queues and the experience itself. Do not stack timed tickets at different venues without checking the drive and admission windows. For a ghost tour, confirm the meeting point and walking requirements with the organizer.
Dress for the attraction
Outdoor trails need footwear suited to the conditions; indoor experiences may have their own costume or bag restrictions. Check accessibility, lighting effects and other advisories directly with the venue if anyone in your group has a concern.
Before you go
Is a ghost tour the same as a haunted house?
No. A ghost tour is a guided experience centered on stories and locations; haunted attractions may use staged scares. Read the operator’s description for the specific format.
Can younger children attend a haunted attraction?
Only the venue can confirm its age rules and suitability. Check the guidance for the exact session rather than the venue as a whole.
Do I need advance tickets?
Check the official ticket page. Timed admission, availability and walk-up policies vary by attraction.
